JANUARY 2022

Here we are 5 years later and goodness me, a lot of water under the bridge with a recent move from Waterfall KZN to Hillcrest.  And lest I say, 18 months of Covid along the way..... I will not detail everything that's taken place since 2017 but will pick out a few highlights.  Bearing in mind this is a quilting blog, let me not digress!

Referring back to my last post, my beautiful whole cloth quilt arrived back safe and sound with one or two marks on it but after a journey around the UK and USA, it did not suffer too badly.  It did not win a ribbon but received encouraging comments from the judges.  My friend Claire Wallace from Handy Quilter SA won first prize and was awarded "Best of Country".  What an outstanding achievement!

I would like to show a table runner that I made for our veterinary surgeon.  A little background to the story.....I have a beautiful white cat that we found on the farm in Harrismith.  Purdy, who is on the front cover of my blog, adopted Snowball and cared for him, cleaning him from top to tail in the days following his "capture".  Snowball has a blue and a green eye.  Isn't he cute?!

Snowball

Well, his mom knew something that we didn't realize hense him being deserted.  Over the last 10 years he has suffered with an acute recurring ear infection.  We are really blessed to have Arina as our vet.  Dr Arina Pimoshenko has worked with Snowball bringing him to a place where after many years of administering drops into his ears, to now regularly cleaning his ears which prevents the infection advancing to a place where he needs antibiotics every few months.  Anyway, after this rather long background, I made this table runner for her to show my appreciation for her dedication and concern over my furbaby.  She was so appreciative of her gift made with love and admiration for a young lady so dedicated to her profession.

I printed his picture onto fabric and sewed it to the back of the table runner with a few words of appreciation.

I think this is long enough for my first post of 2022.  I have a few more photos of quilts lined up for another day.

Thank you for visiting my blog.  I read and appreciate every comment!
